Currently, bins are being hosted by Westport Marina, North Saanich Marina, and Oak Bay Marina, where members can drop off allowable materials. Accepted items are listed below.
Once the bins are full, we:
Record the volume and types of materials collected.
Sort through the contents. This includes separating materials, removing items that don't belong, untangling ropes, and organizing materials into temporary storage bins.
Once we’ve gathered a sufficient amount of materials, we bag and label the materials for transport to an Ocean Depot, as part of the Ocean Legacy Foundation network.
Items are also shared with local artists and other recycling initiatives to support creative repurposing within the community.
